WORKING IN OUR ENVIRONMENT
We recognize that our activities impact on the environment in a number of ways, and we are committed to managing them responsibly. Among other things, this commitment involves keeping local communities fully informed of how we intend to balance the public's growing demand for mobile communications with our shared concerns for the environment.

For example, Starcomms was the first, and only, operator to use bio-degradable materials in its prepaid recharge cards when it relaunched in December 2002. Not only was this decision unprompted, but Starcomms is still the only operator to use bio-degradeable cards. As testament to Starcomms foresight, the Nigerian Communications Commission in June 2004 called for all operators to begin using bio-degradeable materials in their recharge cards.

Starcomms will continue to look for ways to harmonize business needs with those of the environment.

It is our policy to ensure safety first. We believe that safety begins with adequate training;this is why we employ the best possible technicians. The highest safety standards are maintained in our installations, going beyond ensuring the well-being of our technicians by taking into consideration the risk to host communities.

Whichever way the installation is carried out, we make certain that it results in little or no threat to both man and the environment.
